engaging passive jobseekers

The goal of this design exercise was to present job opportunities to a passive candidate: someone who is not actively looking for a new position.

The business wanted to see creative solutions that might gain the passive candidate's interest in a new position, and garner a response.

approach

Through exploratory interviews and online surveys, I was able to understand common behaviors of passive jobseekers and identify opportunities to improve their experience with LinkedIn.

findings

Even passive jobseekers are aware of LinkedIn email notifications and are curious to learn more about possible opportunities. However, they often distrust these messages because of the tone or frequency that they’re received.

the solution

LinkedIn Elite is an experience designed to provide more relevant and enticing messages for its most desirable candidates. A select group of LinkedIn users will be invited to join via email.

We believe that the exclusivity and personalization of this platform will make passive jobseekers feel more desired and will make them respond to InMail inquiries from recruiters more often.

driving engagement

A congratulatory tone and feeling of exclusivity may ignite curiosity and lead to a higher number of enrollments.
